The breathtaking seabed of the island

Last June, Menorca became the biosphere reserve with the largest marine area in the Mediterranean Sea, rising from 71,191 hectares to 514,485, with the addition of the marine area surrounding the island. It extends from the coast to 12 miles out to sea.

Unesco approved the proposal to expand the reserve because of the excellent state of preservation of the seabed and the richness of marine fauna and flora.

This is why the island is a spectacular place for scuba diving, a practice that will allow you to get to know the fascinating marine ecosystem of Menorca.

The S’Algar Diving Centre is a good option for both those who want to get started in the world of scuba diving and for more experienced practitioners.

For the first timers it is recommended to do a sea baptism, which combines a short theoretical session, a first dive in the pool and finally a dive in the sea.

The more experienced can do boat dives, PADI diving courses and technical diving.

Another company that offers activities to discover the underwater world of the island is Bigfoot Menorca.

They are located in the Cala’n Bosch area and also offer baptisms for those who want to experience for the first time the discovering of the seabed.

The more experienced can dive in places like the Cave of Pont d’En Gil, the Blue Cave or the Malakoff.
